The mission of an organization is a strategy to bring the vision from fiction to reality. EFA's Mission is created by the Executive Director and influenced by our leaders.

EFA utilizes education to sustainably break the rural poverty cycle. We help left-behind children find their way in life.

About the Poverty Cycle

EFA's Definition of Poverty

We serve anyone who lacks opportunities to better their life circumstances. Our main beneficiaries are left-behind children, who are victims of the relentless poverty cycle. There exist 70 million left-behind children in China alone, with hundreds of millions in the rest of the world.

Who are the Left-Behind Children?

Existing Solutions

While the poverty cycle has been broken before, most previous and existing solutions have either cost too much to be scalable or are not holistic enough to create a tangible difference.

World governments currently estimate the value of a human life between $4 million to $9 million USD; GiveWell currently estimates the cost to save a physical life at ~$4000 USD.

EFA aims to create sustainable solutions that provide lifelong skills and assets which will help entire families escape the poverty cycle for less than $5000 USD per person.

EFA's Strategy

Education is the only industry that advances society's future rather than mediating society's present. Although education should, in theory, be an innovative industry, reality presents a stark picture. The true purpose of the education industry - facilitating the learning of children - is lost behind political agendas, corruption, and inertia from policymakers who are afraid of change.

Due to education's unique role in society as being universally viewed as the ubiquitous method of improving oneself, EFA believes the poverty cycle can be broken through education - providing equitable learning opportunities.

1) Leveraging New Technology

No matter the industry, the rest of the world is often slow to adapt to innovation. This wasteful inertia prevents potentially life-changing solutions from creating their potential impact.

There exist thousands of startups that create specialized technologies that are more effective and cost-efficient than the status quo. EFA hopes to consolidate these technologies into holistic yet realistically implementable solutions.

2) Student Volunteers
